Alert Weekly Help Desk Notes April 22, 2020

What to do During Downtime

Some of you have asked for suggestions on how to keep your employees productive since you may be experiencing some downtime while observing social distancing guidelines. We think this is an excellent opportunity for you to work on the business, instead of in the business. If you have any suggestions or would like to share what you’ve been doing, let us know at howdy@alertms.com.

Business Types

Did you know that Alert has a slew of marketing tools built right in? For example, you can use Business Types to keep track of who is renting from you – and it’s completely customizable and reportable. To set up your particular business types, go to Codes & Setup > Customer > Codes >Business Types tab. You can see from our example here all of the different types of entities our pretend company rents to.

Next, flag the field to be fillable on a ticket in the Counter 2 Store Parameters. Now on your rental tickets, you’ll be able to choose which Business Type your customer is!

Now what? Run reports to see what types of businesses are renting from you so you can effectively steer your marketing efforts! There are a slew of reports in our Report Share on our Knowledgebase to help.

Pro tip: You can also use Import/Export to update business types on customer records, making reporting on historical sales more accurate. The April 8 edition of the Help Desk Notes had information about Import/Export – previous editions are on our website.

Other Marketing Initiatives

Another idea to make use of some unexpected free time is to take a good look at your overall marketing initiatives. Maybe it’s time to brush up on your social media marketing plan. We’ve seen some of you doing some awesome   things in your communities on social media – play it up!

And follow Alert on all the platforms and we’ll follow you right back! We’re on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Those awesome Adobe Sign videos we sent last week are up on YouTube.

Perhaps you could work on specials to entice your customers to come back when stay-at- home orders have lifted. Or make a flyer to attach to your bills or other documents in Document Center to send to your current customers to reward them for their patronage.

Now is actually a really great time to start thinking about your website and making the  jump from “call us!” to WebRequests, or from WebRequests to E-Commerce. If you add pictures of your rental items in Alert, it makes the process of moving to Web Requests that much easier. Let us know if you need more information!
